(S6) - PT1 - Draft Day Fever

The days leading up to the draft were a fun time. Although I ended up hearing from only three teams, two of them left a great impression, while the third, which talked about how they would love to draft a solid defensive back and had plenty of room for one (I was a defensive end at the time), didn’t do nearly as well. Knowing what I know now, it’s no surprise that HENDRIX was the first to contact me, but I was almost positive I would be headed elsewhere. I’d had some great conversations with Bzerkap, and based on their needs, I was guessing I was going to the Wraiths in the 4th round. Much to my surprise though, I watched as my name was called in the third round, with the 18th overall pick. The second of three consecutive defensive ends taken (and second defensive end overall), I was absolutely floored. I knew the Hawks had a rough season 1, and were widely considered to be one of the worst teams in the league, but with some changes to the front office, HENDRIX sounded like a man that knew what he was doing, and I believed this was a franchise that was going places. Little did I know, the Hawks were going places, and they were going to be getting there very quickly. With 2 Ultimus appearances in 2 seasons, I couldn’t have asked for a better introduction to the NSFL.
