Thank you all for coming. Unlike one Mr. Lynch, I do want to actually talk with substance and honor your time.
Our season started rough, both in starting 1-3 and personally. There was some behind-the-scenes dispute as I had expected to start and did not the first three weeks. We have since put that behind us and looked ahead to focus on our playoff push as the final four weeks are upon us. I think since then, we have really pulled it together in the middle of our schedule and we're looking for a strong finish. We've been 5-1 since. If you absolutely need a win right now against us to make playoffs, get on your knees and pray to all the saints you can remember.
In our past two games, especially, we've had ice water in our veins as the pressure turned up. Beat Meoff was composed as he could be both of those games as he stepped up and delivered what would hold as the game-winning field goals in the final minute. I was more terrified when we almost gave away a touchdown on the very last play of each game.
We've really solidified our defense, though, and I firmly believe we're the best in the DSFL on that side of the ball. To borrow from a favorite writing personality of mine, Mr. Gregg Easterbrook, "Defense starts rallies. Offense stops them." My teammates on defense have been amazing, and as evidenced from our past two games, we've come together strong to open that window for the offense to come from behind. Chin's all over the trenches, Hendrix, Miles and D'Attoria form a solid no-fly zone, Garrett and Spikes have been wonderful to work alongside as linebackers. There's no other unit in the DSFL I'd rather be part of right now.
The offense has been good in their own right. Showbiz has held his own pretty well as a rookie quarterback in this league. Strike and Speedy have been great taking a lot of offensive touches in tandem in the meantime while he transitions. Valentine and Ball have been very patient with Showbiz and work with him week in and week out. And Meoff at least has more moments of greatness than not.
All in all, I feel great about this team and our chances to contend for the Ultimini.
