Four games into Season 9, and kicker/punter Dean Jackson is a perfect 100/100 on the season. Could it be that the now only semi-young kicker is recovering from his disastrous season 8 slump, which brought down his career success rate by a pretty significant amount? Some might believe that. But not Dean Jackson. Dean Jackson knows the truth.
There is a threshold. A dangerous threshold, past which kickers go to die (well not actually die, but kill their careers). Once a kicker has trained too much, worked too hard... the dark lord appears. MADLAD appears. Past that threshold, Madlad begins to siphon their strength and skill. It happened to Turk Turkleton, it happened to Dean Jackson, and it’s about to happen to Micycle McCormick. It never really happened to Iyah Blewitt because he bought Madlad Starbucks one time.
So, yes, you could be optimistic about this season. Or you could be REALISTIC! AND THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE, AND IT IS KNOWN. JACKSON WILL HAVE ANOTHER TWO PERFECT GAMES, THEN REALITY WILL CRASH DOWN UPON HIM WITH THE FORCE OF A RAGING WATERFALL. JACKSON WILL GO ON TO END THE SEASON WITH ONLY AN 82% FIELD GOAL PERCENTAGE.
Extra points might go okay.
Maybe.
