I don’t have too much experience with pets. With a family who spent half their time in one country and half their time in another, adding pets into the mix would have been more of a hassle and probably not terribly fair to the animal in question. I didn’t grow up coming home from school to a li’l doggo excitedly jumping in my lap or a cat summarily ignoring me. I didn’t even have a fish to balefully blink at me from its glass prison. Nope, my upbringing was as pet free as it was girlfriend free.
Even today, I travel too much to have a pet. Sure, I could hire someone to take care of one for me, but what would be the point? I would barely see it, and its primary caretaker would be the person I hired. That’s who it would bond with and be raised by. Nah, instead I consider all the world’s creatures my pets. I love them, I stand up for their rights, and I don’t eat them. I’d say I’m a pretty good pet caretaker.
