The beloved family pet. Whether it's a goldfish, dog, or cat, they always hold a special place in our hearts. For Portland defensive back, Shannon Hobbs, that pet was a Halloween moon crab named Luna. When Shannon was seven years old, he asked his parents for a dog. He had never really known responsibility like that or knew what it took to care for another living creature. Before his parents would get him a dog, they said he needed to prove he could take care of something else first. Something that required a little less care and constant attention. This is where Luna comes into play. They went to their local pet store and looked for the perfect pet for Shannon. They looked at snakes, turtles, even a goldfish, then the Halloween moon crab caught their eye. They got Luna, took her home, and Shannon was absolutely infatuated with the little crab. He took the best care of her and proved he was responsible enough for a dog.
