Early in the season, Lo gave his thoughts on expectations for himself on the season, putting seemingly reasonable numbers out into the universe:
By the time it was said and done, Rax had put together 31 tackles, with 5 TFL, and 6 sacks, so a little under in tackle volume and TFL, but actually a little better than expected sack wise. To boot, in his only game on the Teams unit, he managed to block a punt - likely opening the eyes of his GM to his usefulness as a 4 down player (that block equates to about 40 yards of field position for his team, Adam Anderson's average punt distance).
Despite the fact that overall, Rax failed to meet his own expectations, it was a successful year for him. Tackles that weren't for a loss were made with a combined 41.5 yards beyond scrimmage, for an average of 1.73 yards beyond per play. Factor in the -6 yards on 5 TFLs he accumulated, and that average falls to 1.22 yards beyond scrimmage per play. Take one more step and add in his sack yardage, and if Rax was making a play, it was an average of -.25 yards behind the LOS for the offense- Proving a glimpse into the potential he has if he can put himself in a spot to make even more plays next season.
Quote:"Hopefully I can get around 35 tackles, with 8 TFL and 5 sacks, or something like that, if I HAD to put numbers on it."Despite the fact that at the 10 game mark he was poised to blow these expectations away, he took a step back number wise in the final 4 games of the season, especially in terms of his tackle rate (while TFL and sacks actually saw an uptick).
