Written: Must include 200 words. Remember at the beginning of the season where you had to talk about the expectations you had for the season. Yeah write about whether those expectations came through, whether you missed the mark, basically how the expectations played out.
Heading into the season (Lavelle's 9th) I was expecting 50 tackles, 4 interceptions and about 15/16 pass deflections as that's usually the norm for a cornerback being honest. What I didn't expect was for Lavelle to have easily his best season in a Yellowknife uniform.
Lavelle finished out the season with 76 tackles (most in his career, next closest was 74, 4 seasons ago), 8 interceptions (most in his career, next closest was 7, 2 seasons ago) and 28 pass deflections (most in his career, next closest was 20, 5 seasons ago).
While Yellowknife slumped to the 3rd spot in the NSFC with a 7-7 record and ultimately were not able to even make an attempt at defending their Ultimus title, Lavelle pretty much balled out and had one of his greatest ever seasons, reminiscent of the recently retired Ian Bavitz's outings or the DSFL legend Isaiah Rashad who still holds the interception records for a single season with 8.
Many speculate with Lavelle about to head into his 10th season and with Yellowknife likely on their way down of their spiral, would Lavelle seek greener pastures? The answer to that is no as he has resigned with the Canadian giants for another season.
Lavelle's time in Yellowknife is not finished as he continues his quest to 50 career interceptions and beyond.
