Robbed: Write about why a team that failed to make the playoffs should have over somebody else.
Who deserved to be the number two seed in the NSFC this playoffs? The answer is not quite cut and dry. The two teams we'll focus on are Colorado, who finished 8-6 and made the playoffs, and Yellowknife, who finished 7-7 and missed. Let's start with the Yeti. Yes they finished their season beating Yellowknife in Yellowknife and Orange County at home. However they also finished with a -14 point differential, unbecoming of a true playoff contender. Yellowknife, on the other hand, finished with a +64 point differential. Yes, they did shoot themselves in the foot by losing to Colorado at home with a playoff spot on the line. Yes, the Yeti did play Baltimore very close in the NSFC title game. However, I think a comparison of the true talent levels of each team leans in Yellowknife's direction, and that is why I would have like to see them in the playoffs over Colorado. Still, a lot of credit to Colorado for turning what was looking like another wasted season into a playoff run and real momentum boost.
Playoff Series MVP: Choose an MVP for one of the playoff series and write about why you chose them. Must be completed after the playoff series you write about.
This is going to be hard to talk about, but I want to focus on the ASFC Championship Game between the Second Line and the Otters for this task. Things did not go our way, but New Orleans is an amazing team and deserved every moment of their Ultimus run. Or perhaps I should say Ultimus pass, because that's how they really won the title this season. No disrespect to Darren Smallwood, who had an amazing, award-worthy season that will likely go down as the best season by a running back, but this title was won on the arm of Borkus Maximus III. Against the Otters, Borkus shredded our secondary for a ridiculous 344 yards, 4 touchdowns, and 0 interceptions en route to a 112.9 passer rating and a victory in a game that he never let feel within reach for Orange County. This was a game where their offense's co-engine legitimately struggled, too. It would have been easy for Maximus to fold, but he held strong and quarterbacked an elite game.
Going to Disneyland!:Who was the Ultimus MVP? Give us a rundown of their celebratory trip to Disneyland.
Well this is going to feel like some kind of Borkus Maximus III propaganda piece, but he's my choice for Ultimus MVP just as he was for the ASFC CCG MVP. In the Ultimus game itself, Bovo passed for an absurdly efficient stat line, roasting the Baltimore defense to the tune of a 71% completion rate, 372 yards, and 2 touchdowns. That's an outright wild performance from one of the league's new stars. As far as his trip to Disneyland, Borkus is a sucker for the Disney princesses, so his trip is really going to focus on rides related to those movies. Unfortunately they are woefully underrepresented in the park, so he will spend minimal time in the hell hole of a theme park itself and more time in his suite binging Disney movies and filling out his Disney/Pixar movie bracket to debate with his teammates. What a fun trip that will be.
Unsung Hero:Who was the unsung hero of the playoffs, convince us. (Can be completed after the Ultimus game)
The Unsung hero of the playoffs is none other than @Beaver, also known as Blackford Oakes. You might be thinking to yourself "Oakes only had 9 tackles and a sack, how could be be a hero?" Well, it's because Beaver is always a hero and no amount of singing of his praises could every do him justice. He is always there when you need a fresh new meme or some lively banter. He will stand up for you when other players call you nasty things. He will fight for his teams to trade for you. He is a true hero, in every sense of the word, and he is a hero that I, in a moment of weakness and hot-hotheadedness, took for granted. For that I am truly, unbelievably sorry. While I understand if you still never wish to be an Otter, I hope we can move on from the truly upsetting things I said yesterday at some point in the future. Until then I will work tirelessly to be the best me I can be, and I hope that that is a me that you can find a way to forgive.
