After a solid season in the DSFL with the Kansas City Coyotes, Danny Grithead is off to greener pastures. Well, orange pastures more accurately. Immediately after being drafted by the Otters in the first round, Grithead hopped into his luxury F-150 and drove straight to southern California to the team facilities. You've got to admire the determination and desire for this guy to show up to training camp literally as soon as possible. Tegan Atwell, the former Otter now moving to Yellowknife, had made a pretty petty comment during the draft as a commentator, exclaiming "who?" after Grithead's name was announced as the 6th pick. So as soon as Grithead got to the Otters facility he started yelling his own name while doing some burpees. Grithead's new teammates were stunned and had to separate the rookie from the departing veteran. So it was definitely a memorable first impression. The very next day, the Otters GM called Grithead into his office. Fearing the worst, maybe a practice suspension, Grithead walked solemnly in. But it turns out the Otters GM wanted to try and line Grithead out on defense as a safety. Grithead immediately accepted the position and then went straight to the bench press to train himself for this new task. We'll see if he can make the transition fast enough before the season.
