When you make a career move, be it from being drafted, traded, or picking a new team in free agency, all eyes tend to be on you when you show up. The fact of the matter is, when you walk in, you are there to take someone's job- which isn't something that everyone takes kindly to (even if it's not their job you're taking - these guys have been together for some time, and they're probably close). There is only one way that you can get past that, in most cases...

You've got to get in the door, and start grinding right away. Unless you're truly god's gift to man (and not just a situation where you think you are), if you don't put the work in, you're not going to live up to the expectations that the coaches, and the players, have for you.

I happen to be a member of the reigning champs after being selected in the first round of the draft. Playing for a team of champions, and being a first round draft pick, those are going to have big time implications in the level of their expectations for me. I've got to get to that level as soon as possible, so I'll be the first one in and the last one out until I'm where I need to be. That's the only way to handle it, as far as I'm concerned.
