Truthfully, the worst part about the new season for me is just how many faces we’re going to be missing on the Orange County Otters this season. So many Otters greats have moved on to retirement, most notably players like Jordan Yates, quarterback extraordinaire Mike Boss, Marc Spector and a whole host of others that have given up the game they loved so much. Tegan Atwell was supposed to be my partner in crime this season, as we helped Gus T.T. Showbiz learn the ropes of our offense and to hopefully teach him how to lead the Otters to the next level of football, the type of football the Otters have made the norm for their players. However, Atwell chased the money, and instead of the hard work we’re going to need from our players during what will be considered a “down year” for Otters football, allegedly anyway, she’s going to play in Yellowknife. This entire point task was to be based on the new players for the new season, but other than our new bad ass running back, Ricky Adams, the entire Otters team is still in mourning over the incredible losses we’re going to endure. I can’t write about the hope of the future when the scars of what we’ve lost in the past are still so fresh. (220)
