Spencer has an extensive playlist of many different artists and genres. Despite him having just under one hundred tracks on his playlist, pre-game time he only listens to a select few of these songs. What makes these unique is that were many athletes choose to listen to rock music or rap to pump themselves up, Spencer prefers to listen to some relaxing classical music to get himself into the zone which has come as a surprise to many the teammate and coach.
The first song on his playlist is the second piece in Gustav Holst’s The Planets, Venus – The Bringer of Peace. The strings and flutes of this slow classical melody help to calm Spencer’s nerves before a big game.
The second song which Spencer listens to is Piano Sona Number 14 in C Sharp Minor “Quasi Una Fantasia” Opus 27, Number 2, or more commonly known as Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata. The quite piano of this sonata has a near meditative effect on Spencer.
The final piece which Spencer listens to on the team bus comes from Handel’s Water Music which is probably one of his favourite pieces as due to the nature of the song and it being split into suites he can pick and choose which part he wants to listen to on a given day.
