This season saw the return of former San Jose stalwart Brad Pennington to his old stomping grounds, now with the Yellowknife Wraiths. Of course, the departure of Pennington was surrounded in controversy, with the common belief that he had requested to be traded away from San Jose last season. As one would expect, the SabreCats failthful didn't take kindly to that type of exit, so upon his arrival, Brad was showered with booze, and most likely, a fair amount of beer upon exiting the tunnel prior to the week 11 jolt.
Despite the relentless stream of boos from the crowd raining down upon him, Pennington moved the ball readily at times- amassing 466 passing yards along the way. However, when it came to shrugging off his old teammates on the opposite side of the ball, he didn't have so much luck- tossing a stunning 4 interceptions in the contest. Perhaps the crowd noise had something to do with it? It's more likely that having practiced against him for so long, the defenders were all too aware of his decision making process.
So, all in all, despite the massive yardage put up, the 2:4 TD:INT ratio was too much to overcome, and the SabreCats crowd was treated to a drubbing of the old San Jose QB, as their own man threw for 4 TD against 0 INT himself, making it easy on the SJ D to hone in against the pass game. In a vindicated bliss, fans left the stadium victorious, while Brad sauntered back to the team bus, doing his best to appear unaffected by the outcome.
