Unsung Hero
The Ultimus Game featured a rematch from Season 9 with the Baltimore Hawks facing off against the New Orleans Second Line. The game was close with tons of players having fantastic games including the likes of Blocksdale, Maximus, Taylor, Law, and Bush. Turk Turkelton Hawks kicker, however, had an amazing game himself. Nobody appreciates a great kicker until they no longer have one, they're the heroes one week and the villain the next. Fortunately for Turkelton, he's been able to have a great career to this point for the Hawks and was able to have himself a lights-out game on the brightest stage in football. Turk was responsible for 17 of his team's 29 total points, including a string of 4 field goals in a row in the 2nd and 3rd quarters bringing his team back into the lead. Overall he managed to finish the game hitting every kick he was put on the field to take. He was 5 for 5 on field goal attempts and 2 for 2 on his point after touchdown kicks. The Baltimore offense did it's best to give him good field position but we all know that no kick should be taken for granted no matter where it's being hit from but they knew they could rely on Turkelton as they have done for years now.

In the ASFC title game, we had the Orange County Otters visiting the defending champion Second Line in New Orleans. I'm sure lots of people expected NOLA to blow the Otters out of the building due to OCO's offense being, quite frankly, not good, especially after trading away superstar wideout Carlito Crush to NOLA, but that didn't turn out to be the case. The Otters managed to hold NOLA to just 10 points over the course of the game even though OCO handed over 70 yards in penalties. Smallwood caught a pass out of the backfield for a touchdown and Peg Leg kicked a field goal and that was all they needed to close out the 10-3 game to send NOLA back to the title game.
In the NSFC we had the complete opposite, a shootout between the Yeti and Hawks offenses. Ryan Applehort did his best to will his team to a victory but it just wasn't enough. He threw for 4 touchdowns, 3 of them going to Dwayne Aaron, but unfortunately also handed the ball to the Baltimore defense twice, one of them going back for a pick-6. Baltimore was much more secure with the ball and didn't turn it over once. Blocksdale threw for 2 TDs and ran for 1 to bring his squad to the Ultimus again.
The Ultimus was a rematch of Season 9 between the Hawks and the Second Line. Both teams were secure with the ball and didn't have any turnovers and the score went back and forth all game. NOLA's defense made plenty of stops but wasn't able to force enough punts to win. Too many drives ended in their own half which allowed Turkleton to essentially kick the Hawks to their first title.
New Talent
Before Week 9 the Baltimore Hawks made a trade with the Philadelphia Liberty in an effort to bring home their first Ultimus. The Liberty sent over star wide receiver Carter Bush and a 4th rounder in exchange for a 3rd round draft pick. Good move for both teams at the time. As for how much of a difference Carter Bush made? Well, you'll have to look at his trophy cabinet to find out. He joined an already loaded receiving corps in Baltimore that included the likes of Trey Wilie, Budda Browning, Verso L'Alto, and Declan Harp which just created even more of a nightmare for defenses to have to deal with, which isn't even accounting for superstar running back Owen Taylor. This was proven in the NSFC matchup against the Yeti. Blocksdale had so many target and was able to spread the ball around wherever he wanted. 5 of his receivers were able to haul in at least 4 receptions with 4 of them getting over 60 yards. Even Taylor was able to make 7 catches out of the backfield. In the Ultimus Bush had an amazing individual game. He caught 7 passes for 102 yards, including a 33 yard touchdown. So Bush himself was able to put up great numbers in bringing home a title to Baltimore, but he was also able to open up the passing game for his teammates.
