To open this season there were a number of critics that were claiming that first year player Ryan Cobalt would fail to make the impact on the Philadelphia Liberty that a ninth overall pick would be expected to make, but in his first game Cobalt has already dispelled any questions. The young superstar strong safety out of the San Antonio Marshals development program and more latter the Holy Cross Crusaders football team quickly got his start in the league by posting five tackles and forcing a fumble which he recovered for a defensive turnover. While the Liberty would go on to lose the game, Cobalt was a mood changer for the Liberty locker room who went out and had a stellar competition. Cobalt should look to only continue to improve all season long as he becomes more and more comfortable in his skin as the season progresses. Already there is clear improvement to his speed and on field intelligence, and these become more and more prevalent as we see more of his practice footage. Cobalt is the knight in shining armor that the Philadelphia Liberty need to finally set them over the edge, and will be a huge part of their oncoming push for the title.
