As opposed to writing about who it is that I expect to progress into a top player this season, I instead want to talk about a player who I think has that expectation but will fall flat. Sam Garrad was a very strong defensive prospect heading into this draft and was a massive pick up for the Tijuana Luchadores. Sam was hyped up as quite possibly the top defensive line prospec the league had ever seen, but since joining league play he has begun to dissapoint. The young player has posted a very underwhelming stat line his first four games, and it's becoming more evident why he didn't get any play times last season during the playoffs despite being better in training camp than many of the players on the roster. His performance on the field doesn't match up with his physical skill, which so far has been hugely dissapointing for the Luchadores staff, who is struggling to string together wins this season. The Luchadores are a team with a long and storied history of success, and this is one instance where maybe, it's time for a rebuild to occur. One is for sure, and that is that Garrad has been nothing but a draft dud.
