Garnett's complete antipathy toward Halloween extends to every facet of his life, it seems. When his employers, the Philadelphia Liberty, suggested some kind of community action on behalf of the team, to celebrate All Hallows Eve, Garnett again refused. "Listen me, di Laad Jesus nuh come dung 'ere an' die pon cross from two-two thousan' year ago fi unu fi come now, inna twenty-bumboclaat-firs' century an' tun round an' worship duppy an' demon, an' give tanks an' praise to Satan. Mi nuh badda wid unu pagan ting dem. Move an' gweh!"
Unable to fully understand what exactly Lennox had told them, but clearly detecting strong disapproval from the Jamaican defensive back, the Liberty management decided not to press the issue, leaving him free to do as he pleased. "Mi a guh tek mi wife fi a nice meal somewhere. A mi queen dat, so mi haffi treat 'ar suh."
