Ah Halloween, the final day of October. Many people love this holiday, many people hate it. Others think it’s a stupid capitalist construct and are indifferent towards it. Halloween is by no means Rylant Wright’s favorite holiday, but that doesn’t stop him from having an awesome time. He doesn’t do all that much, honestly, but, in the neighborhood in which Wright grew up, that’s what makes it fun. It’s a pretty close knit community, and that adds to the fun. The people of the town get together, and have a large feast on Halloween night, one would even think it’s Thanksgiving based on all the food that is consumed. The best part, of course, is the dessert. Every person brings a giant bag of their favorite candy, and faces are stuffed accordingly. Rylant Wright’s favorite candy is Swedish Fish, so naturally he shows up with a colossal bag of the red candies. This tradition has been happening since Wright was a child, so it holds a special place in his heart. The sense of community is what makes this tradition great, on a holiday in which Rylant Wright would otherwise not care that much about.
Happy Halloween, everyone, and stay spooky!
