For me, the most surprising outcome for the Arizona Outlaws was actually last night’s game against the Orange County Otters. The Otters have long been a dominant team in the ASFC and were a team that I knew would be a difficult rival for years to come when I was drafted to Arizona. This was our chance to get revenge on our turf after losing to them during week 6 by 28-20.
The Otters are a great team and could shock a lot of people by upsetting the New Orleans Second Line in the play-offs, but before that can happen, they had to go through us and we weren’t going to make it easy on them. The game was lights out offense with both team scoring 5+ TDs apiece. Fitzpatrick was sling the ball like a madman with over 300 yards and a QB Rating of 131.1. Both Browning and Squanch fired off with over 100 yards in the air and Mackworthy was effective on the ground. Of course, shout-out to my boys on the defense as we compiled 3 sacks, including 1 from yours truly. Plus 5 deflections and an interception from the secondary. The effort netted us a hard-fought 44-41 win and, while we are out of contention this year, it felt good to defeat a major rival and successfully defend our homefield.
