I think the biggest surprise outcome this season happened in Week 6. Baltimore hopped on a jet and headed to Philadelphia to face the Liberty. After finishing 0-14 in Season 10, the Liberty, much improved, had already put 2 wins together. The Liberty entered 2-3, while the Hawks entered with a dominant 5-0 record. The Hawks were huge favourites, even on the road and even with an improved Liberty team. What happened was definitely a shock to the NSFL.
When the ball kicked off, it was clear the game was going to be special. The Hawks didn't start on time, while the Liberty were ready to play the game of their lives. In the first half, the Liberty jumped out to a 21-0 lead, stunning Baltimore the whole way. The Hawks finally got on the board with an Owen Taylor touchdown, but it was met with a field goal by Philadelphia to give them a 24-7 halftime lead. Most people still expected Baltimore to wake up and take over in the second half, but the Liberty defense held their ground. The Liberty put up 2 more field goals and stopped the Hawks from getting any points until 5 minutes left in the game, when the Hawks got their second touchdown. The Liberty completed the surprising win by a score of 30-14, handing the Hawks their first loss of the season. It was a balanced attack by Philadelphia, picking off Baltimore quarterback Ryan Applehort two times and the offense putting up 423 yards of offense. Marquise Brown was a star, rushing for 118 yards and two touchdowns. To me, this was the most surprising outcome of Season 11.
