There are a lot of things about the Philadelphia Liberty season that are surprising. First off, it's not often you see a team go from winless to damn near making a playoff appearance the following season. But that's exactly what the Philadelphia Liberty did. With a young team, no less. Seeing the one-time Ultimus champions go from zero wins and fourteen losses to seven of each was a surprise, but perhaps most surprising was their most impressive win this season; a pretty convincing win over the reigning champion Baltimore Hawks, thirty points to fourteen. Two touchdowns from last year's rushing champion Marquise Brown, plus a short passing touchdown from Falconi to rookie wideout Jordan von Matt added to three Kulture Fulture field goals to eclipse the two Owen Taylor touchdowns that came in response. Hawks quarterback Ryan Applehort had a bit of a stinker, throwing two interceptions and no touchdowns in the visit to Taco Bell Stadium, while the fearsome tight end duo of L'Alto and Harp were limited to just fifty-eight yards on their nine catches. Rookie trio Cobalt, Becker and Garnett led the defensive output for the Liberty, combining for nineteen tackles (one for loss), a sack, and an interception to sink their fiercest rivals.
