Playoff series MVP: Vladimir Fyodorovich
Vladimir Fyodorovich had a field day in the Ultimus, as part of the Second Line's conquest to retake the Ultimus trophy from the Hawks. Fyodo was flying everywhere. Fyodorovich had been asked to take on a bigger role within the team to begin the year, making the switch from CB -> WR and making the immediate leap to WR1. He did not fail in this task, as he flashed his playmaking abilities. Throughout the game, he notched 10 catches for 99 yards, and that also included 3 touchdowns. So he was delivering in the red zone; what else did he do? One of the game changing moments during the Ultimus was his 50 yard punt return for a touchdown. The Second Line went on to win the game in dramatic fashion, with retiree Darren Smallwood reaching over the plane of the end zone and delivering the touchdown to seal the game. While it's nearly impossible to play hypotheticals in football, or any sport for that matter where one play could have such a chain reaction, I think we can all agree that without Fyodorovich's contributions to the Second Line's effort, the Doots would not have been hoisting up the Ultimus at the end of the fight.
Sit-down with a fan: I interviewed @Shrodawg
1. Congrats on a great regular season. What do you think went well for you and your team this year?
2. Do you have any big superstitions?
3. What could you work on this offseason to get better all-around?
4. Do you have any preference between the NSFL cities (Phoenix/Philly/Baltimore/Yellowknife/Denver/San Jose/Orange County/New Orleans) as far as weather?
I think we just had a really great roster overall on both sides of the ball. We had the best defense in the league and I think big time guys like Charlie Trout, Logan Lejune, and Axel Hornbacher played a big part in that. We weren't the top offense in the league, but we got it done when we needed to and had confidence in our defense.
My biggest superstition is my socks. I actually wear a pair of black dress socks underneath my regular socks. My feet get pretty sweaty so I started wearing a lighter pair of black dress socks to help them absorb more sweat and kept wearing them when we starting winning games this season.
I think my overall athleticism is going to be something I work on this offseason. I don't have the speed or agility as some of the other Tight Ends in the league and I need to work on that to get a starting spot at the next level.
I think a colder climate like Denver or Yellowknife would be great since I'm from Canada and a warmer city like Phoenix or anything in California would be too hot for me.
