Robbed:
We again see the same situation as we have the last couple seasons as there are 4 dominant teams in the league. Once again it seems like there is only one team that was “maybe” robbed of a playoff spot. This time it has been the Philadelphia Liberty. After last few years rebuilding they are starting to win some games and get their young players to develop. Finishing the season at 7 and 7 they are taking their steps to become a playoff team once more. While the Hawks and Yeti are still riding their now aging core to the Ultimus Cup. Philly was close to getting in as the Yeti finished 8 and 6 and were the closest team they could have caught. On the other side in the ASFC both New Orleans Second Line and the reammerged Orange County Otters have dominated their side of the league. Second Line finishing 11 and 3, while the Otters finishing 10 and 4. While the Outlaws and Sabercats were not close to the playoffs at all. It will be interesting to see how the rebuild teams begin to start winning more games and how the aging teams start to phase out.
Unsung Hero:
Unsung hero for me had to be T. Keita for the New Orleans Second Line. In the Semi Final, Second Line were looking for playmaker to slow down the hot hand of G. Showbiz and his ability to make throws in tight windows. What they did not expect was that the Rookie Keita would step up and shutdown his opponent. Having a pretty good first year in the NSFL, he was able to put up some impressive numbers. Playing in all 14 games he had 87 tackles, 1 forced fumble with 1 recovery, 4 sacks, 4 interceptions, 11 passes defended and 1 touch down. He is in talks about being the rookie of the year. In the playoff game when everything is on the line, he gets 5 tackles, 1 sack, 2 passes deflected and 1 interception. Watching the game you noticed him all over the field. Making plays up and down the field he really does need to be looked at as the next superstar. It's always fun to see a young player come up and make some big plays to make a name for himself. We can only wonder what is in store next for Keita and can he keep developing into the superstar that he seems to be projected as right now.
