When approached by the media a week prior to the draft Ja'Brill had this to say:
"While I do not control my own destiny in the sense of where I am drafted, myself and my player agent, Tim Pest, do control the length of the contract I will sign. It is in everyone's best interest to allow Jorel and myself to achieve harmony together on one single team."
