This offseason was an interesting one, to say the least. Even with no football, my league work wasn't done. It was my first full season as a starting quarterback, and since QBs are media giants, the league decided to send me and some other of my teammates, including Howard Miller and Haruki Ishigawa. This wasn't their first rodeo - they were bona fide superstars of the league, and knew exactly how to play the crowds. The head office seemed to be chasing the cities without teams in the NSFL or DSFL, I guess in an attempt to increase market share and possibly tease out expansion sites, so we visited Oklahoma City, Kansas City, Lincoln, Salt Lake City, and even Minneapolis. Even without a team to call their own, these cities seemed pretty engaged with the goings on of the league, and since these cities were in the Rockies/Midwest, were generally fans of ours. It was cool pumping up crowds and signing autographs, but I also met a lot of really cool and interesting people during these stops. We did a combined-team tour into New York City, and I met a kid from my own hometown who was inspired by me, and wanted to become a player in the league too, just didn't know what position to play. He could kick, run, pass, and catch - a jack of all trades just looking to see what tools to sharpen. He seemed very motivated - I think we might see him in the not so distant future.
