As a walk on at the University of Miami, Spencer Castle hadn't allowed himself to envision the success he's had as of late. While to some, that may sound counter intuitive, he prefers to focus on the immediate moment when it comes to his athletic-professional life. It's also made his production that much sweeter, as if it's a surprise. Though to those on the outside looking in, it really shouldn't be.
With the Luchadores sitting at a pretty 5-1 record, Castle is still taking things one game at a time, and that means focusing on tonight's New Year's game against the Kansas City Coyotes. In another road game, Castle will look to buffer his team's conference lead, although what's most important is scoring that home field advantage come playoff time. Especially so, as the Luchadore's only loss this season has been on the road.
As an individual, Castle has played amongst the top defensive backs in the league, which should certainly bump his stock come draft day, where it's looking more and more like he'll end up as a first round pick. With two interceptions and forty one tackles, he's certainly providing no reason not to believe he'll be anything but a boon to whomever invests their draft pick in him.
