Unsung Hero:
So, I never miss an opportunity to talk about my own players, so I believe that Tegan Atwell’s playoff performance was integral to the Orange County Otters’ playoff run to their fourth Ultimus victory in franchise history. While she had only one TD reception, she had the longest TD reception in the whole S12 playoffs with it being a 37 yard pass reception. She also had a total of 208 yards throughout the playoffs, only behind Carlito Crush on the team. In fact, with 208 yards, she had the second most receiving yards in the whole S12 playoffs. She also had the second highest efficiency with 18.9 yards per catch, continuing a trend that she’s shown for her entire career. Tegan Atwell has been an unsung hero for most of her career, having been snubbed from multiple awards in her career due to playing next to other amazing WRs and playing in a time that has seen many amazing WRs, including Howard Miller, Trey Willie, and teammate Carlito Crush. It’s really nice to see her performing this well in what may be her last playoffs (probably not, but you never know) and I think that the rest of the league should be taking notice to her performances.

1) You announced your intention to retire at the end of next season after the Otters' Ultimus win, the third you've been a part of with the team. Was there something about getting the third trophy that made you feel OK with walking away or did that decision stem from something else?

"I feel like I was already considering that decision for a while. Football is a tough sport and even if it's not about head trauma, the rest of your body takes a beating too. I feel like walking away with one trophy that I feel responsible for is a great feeling, but this decision was coming no matter what."

2) On that topic, how do you think NSFL players and fans will remember Tegan Atwell?

"I hope that I'll be remembered. That's all. I've played alongside and against some great players, especially wide receivers, and it's easy for anyone to get lost in that list of names. I just hope that what I've done for my teammates and my team is what's remembered."

3) You've decided to walk away from the game next off-season rather than this one. Is that an indication that you feel you can close your career with another Ultimus?

"I mean, you always hope to do so. I know that this team isn't going to be leaving the top any time soon, so why not go for a fourth?"

4) However next season goes, it's safe to say Tegan Atwell had an outstanding career by pretty much any standard. But do you feel like being a woman and performing at the level you have is going to open more doors for women in the NSFL?

"I think that we've seen it. When I joined the league there was only one woman and she was in the DSFL. Now there's a woman starting at QB for Philly. Yeah, there's not that many and it may not have anything to do with me, but I'm just happy that it's happened and that there's a gateway to the NSFL for women; that anyone has the ability to join the league if they work for it."
