Written: Write a 200-word preview or review on one of the Conference Championship Games or Ultimus Games.
With the Ultimus tonight, it seems like a fitting time to preview the main event between the dynastic Orange County Otters and the upstart Colorado Yeti. The Otters, after beating regular season titans the San Jose Sabercats, are playing as the defending champions of the S12 Ultimus. Pre-S10 success had been the norm for the Otters, until the reawakening of the New Orleans kept them from the best date in sim football - at least until last season. Led by Showbiz at QB and Adams as the most versatile weapon in the game, the Otters boast the regular season's top yardage offense and top passing offense. Will it be enough to beat the Colorado Yeti, who are searching for the franchise's first Ultimus win? With only four playoff appearances, total, to their name this team could cement its legacy for Denver football fans. Can McCormick keep the Yeti offense on the field and leverage the breadth of offensive weapons that showcased during the regular season for the second best offense in the NSFL? With a high scoring game in the cards, the real question is which team's defense will steal the show? Can one of the defensive players step into the spotlight and steal the game? Colorado has several big names at the top of defensive leader boards, but middled in overall defensive production. Whereas the Otters, with less big individual performers in key categories like sacks and interceptions, had stronger overall defensive production. Regardless, tonight shapes up to be a good sim football match.

Going a little off script and I'm picking a player and a quarter that was surreal and magical. Andre Bly Jr. in the 4th quarter can take significant responsibility for how the game turned out. Down 23-14, Colorado had the ball after Seer had just put the otters up by 9 points. A fantastic kick forced McCormick and company to start on their own 11. It quickly became 3rd and 6, on their own 15. Down by 9 points, but lots of time left on the clock with 8:07 remaining. McCormick snaps the ball, scans the field and throws for Bishop who looks to have space. In the blink of an eye, Bly Jr. is on him and swats the ball away. To make the moment even more special, Andre Bly Jr. is a well known former Yeti who was drafted to the team in S5 and had been a leader before leaving for the Otters after waiving his no movement clause. Then, to drive the dagger deeper into the Yeti, Bly Jr. took the Colorado kickoff with 1:10 left in the game and provided a great 39 return to seal the victory. What a quarter by the veteran corner.
