Rose Jenkins vs. Corvo Havran
It was very interesting to see these two quarterbacks go head to head in the Ultimini. On paper, going into this game, Havran had to be the clear favorite to come out on top statistically. Rose Jenkins had failed to impress up to this point, and there was no reason to believe that wouldn't continue through this matchup. One stat that immediately jumped out to me after this game reached its conclusion was Jenkins' QB rating of 81.4, very surprising if you consider Rose's overall QB rating through the season of 66.3. Havran was forced to throw in this game, and throw is exactly what he did, ending the game with 52 pass attempts! Although, the defense sent the pressure, causing Havran to only complete 30 of those passes for 316 yards, 1 TD, and 1 INT. Jenkins had a much easier game, with the rushing attack relieving a lot of pressure from the passing game. Rose Jenkins ended the matchup with 17 comp./37 Att. for 204 yards, 2 TD's, and 0 INT. Although the Coyotes weren't able to come away with the win, this matchup is a great example of why stats going into a game don't mean everything. Any player could step-up at any point in a season and surprise everyone.
