Task 1: I guess my team can be looked at as Ultimus champions this year because, well, WE ARE ULTIMUS CHAMPIONS!!! The Orange County Otters, the most dominant team in the NSFL’s history, proceeded to pull off a slightly improbable championship playoff, defeating the Colorado Yeti by a close score of 24 – 21. The score makes the game look closer than it really was, as the Yeti added a garbage time touchdown with a two point conversion to bring the game within three points. This is the second straight Ultimus victory for Orange County, which given the parity of the NSFL is a pretty impressive achievement. The Otters upset the San Jose Sabercats, (the Vegas Odds favorites before the playoffs began) on the road in the conference finals before facing off against the Yeti in the title game. This championship is surprising to everyone but the guys in the locker room. We knew that the Otters were underperforming all season, for whatever reason. We lost quite a few games we shouldn’t have, and our QB, Gus Showbiz, was playing simply awful for most of the year. But when the playoffs came, the team finally started playing how we knew we could, and we took home the title! It was a crazy fun season, and I was thrilled to be able to win another Ultimus with OCO! (225)
Task 3: In the S13 Ultimus Bowl, the Orange County Otters once again found themselves in the familiar position of championship game contestant, taking on the Colorado Yeti, who are more known for never winning games during seasons than winning championships. Personally, it was a very interesting matchup as the team that drafted me first overall back in S5, the Yeti, took on the team they traded me to in the Otters. The game itself was a doozy. Colorado jumped out to a 3-0 lead early, and that’s how the first quarter would end. The Otters would get on the board about halfway through the second quarter with a field goal of their own. On their next drive, the Otters would take the lead as Gus T.T. Showbiz found Carlito Crush on a slant route for a 13 yard touchdown and the 10-3 lead. The Yeti would get the last points of the half, however, on another field goal. 10-6 going into halftime. The Otters would take control of the game on the first possession of the second half. Ricky Adams would break free from a would be tackler to score a 24 yard touchdown to give the Otters a 17-6 lead. But the Yeti wouldn’t be knocked out just yet! Howard Miller would break free and score on an 8 yard pass to bring the game to 17-13. After some back and forth play, the Otters looked to have put the game away with 8:40 left when Seer Zepyhrous fell into the endzone and gave the Otters a 24-13 lead. The Yeti would end up getting a touchdown and the two point conversion with a minute left, but they wouldn’t get the ball back and Orange County walked away with a 24-21 Ultimus Victory! (293)
