Yellowknife is in the ass end of the ass end of nowhere, and for the Wraiths' three first-round picks it will be a new home for the next several years. That prospect would upset most attention-addicted superstar professional athletes, but not Sandy Bakshi. Sandy has always been a quiet and serious person, so for him the vast expanses of Canadian wilderness are a welcome sight compared to the bustling developed wastelands of Los Angeles or Philadelphia. Sandy travelled to Yellowknife as soon as he got the call on draft day, and has been both learning about the local community as well as taking numerous excursions to the outdoors.
When a local reporter asked him how he felt about his new home Sandy replied, "I love it. You don't hear about this place much... or really at all beyond the Wraiths team. It's a very peaceful and relaxing place, and the community has really embraced me. I hope that the other rookies feel the same way when they get here and that Thad [Castle] and I can get a lot of work done together."
