Draft day was one of Barnes' favorite days of his entire life. He had just finished his first full season in the DSFL with the Marshals and had been getting calls from prospective NSFL general managers pretty much all season. Barnes had always carried himself on the field as if he was the best thing to ever lace em up so for him to be getting all this interest from big league teams really made it seem like all those long days of working out and practicing worth it. As for the actual draft day, as one of the top prospects in the class, he and his family were invited to attend the event in person and he gladly accepted. Barnes didn't expect to be waiting very long. Most draft experts had him pegged to go in the top 2 to either San Jose or Arizona almost 100% and based on talks that he had had with their respective front offices he figured that would be the case. When his name wasn't called with the first overall pick, he didn't let that get him down since he had a really good feeling he'd find his way onto the stage with the next selection. The commissioner made his way to the podium and announced that the Outlaws would be selecting him with the second pick and his family broke down in tears of joy. Barnes walked his way onto the stage with a big smile on his face. This was a new beginning for him as he was finally going to be an NSFL player.
