11) Sit-down with a star
Written: Interview a player from a team that is not your own that is in the playoffs. You must ask them four questions and at least three must relate to the league in some way. YOU MUST POST THE QUESTIONS AND THEIR ANSWERS FOR CREDIT.
1. First off, congratulations on the Ultimini win. You had a great year. What do you think was the key to your success in Portland?
Thank you! Our season was special from the start, and I think everyone could feel it coming even since the draft. Our LR was great, with experienced guys helping newbies and send-downs chatting with rookies. We also had tons of TPE where it mattered, as both our QB and WR set TD records. I think it was just everyone performing at an insanely high level, and pushing teammates to do better.
2. So where do you think you will go in the draft and what pick range?
I'm pretty confident that I will be drafted in the first two rounds. I talked to almost every single team and had extensive discussions with some of them, which was a welcome change for me after not being scouted, like at all, during the DSFL draft. Based on the information I have, I can confidently say that I will go to the Yellowknife Wraiths, Baltimore Hawks, Philadelphia Liberty, Colorado Yeti, Chicago Butchers, Orange County Otters, San Jose Sabercats, Arizona Outlaws, New Orleans Second Line, or Austin Copperheads. I'm not completely sure which, but either way, I can't wait for the draft!
3. So is there any NFL/NSFL player, current or past, you're modeling your game after?
Oh man, there are a lot of answers to this question. How about hall-of-famer Ian Bavitz? He's one of the greatest safeties of all time, leading his defense and his team to so many Ultimi while exibiting fantastic positional versatility, swinging between LB and S. I really aspire to follow in his footsteps as a safety. In terms of general players, I strive to match Dermot Lavelle's work ethic and success on the field. He did literally everything for his team: he caught two TDs - on offense - in a playoff game once. Also, he holds the career picks record (59), a record I'm coming for and hope to beat!
4. And finally, would you rather be a star on a bad team or a bench player on a championship team?
I'm gonna preface my answer by saying that there's no team that would play me on the bench. Even the S9 NOLA defense had a spot to spare for me at LB. With that said, I'm going to take the championship team 10 times out of 10, as long as I feel like I'm helping the team be great - maybe talking in the LR, maybe spurring on my teammates to train. I eagerly anticipate building up whichever team I land on into a championship team again.
