Marquis Brown left the Philadelphia Liberty at the end of last season and hung his hat with the team's chief rival and Ultimus favorite Baltimore Hawks. Following the old adage of "if you can't beat them, join them" Brown decided to try to get himself an Ultimus by simply walking onto the right team. Fast forward to the end of the year after Baltimore also added other big names to bolster their run at a 2nd title, and Brown's ultimate effect on the Ultimus Championship was revealed. None. Baltimore lost, at home, to the former team that drafted Brown. With 9 minutes to go and an 11 point lead, the Hawks looked well on their way to the victory they'd paid for before Brown's former teammates led one of the most amazing comebacks in NSFL history that culminated in the Liberty taking the lead with 19 seconds left and crushing Brown's dreams much like the dreams of his hero Benedict Arnold were once crushed.
Usually a free agent who signs with their old team's chief rival in order to more easily win a title is rewarded but in this particular case karma came back to bite him in the ass as Philadelphia went on to face San Jose in the Ultimus after they too won their playoff game on the road against the Orange County Otters.

HAVING LOST TO SAN JOSE, WOULD YOU EVER CONSIDER LEAVING THE OTTERS IN ORDER TO GO TO SAN JOSE FOR THE SOLE PURPOSE OF TRYING TO WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP?
Nah, I already have enough hardware to go around. My goal now is just to get personal stats and also putting 100% of the blame for everything wrong that ever happens on my supporting cast.
LET'S SAY FOR A MOMENT THAT YOU WERE TO ACTUALLY GO THROUGH WITH THIS SORT OF THING. YOU SWAP TO A DIVISION RIVAL AND THEN MEET THEM IN THE PLAYOFFS, WHERE THEY DEFEAT YOU TO MOVE ON TO THE ULTIMUS. CA YOU DESCRIBE IN DETAIL HOW BAD YOU WOULD FEEL ABOUT ABANDONING YOUR TEAM ONLY FOR THEM TO DEFEAT YOU?
Yeah, if I did ever do that I would probably feel pretty shitty, especially if I was a running back from New England who liked to talk a lot of shit.
WITH YOU HITTING YOUR PRIME AND GUS SHOWBIZ FIRMLY INTO HIS, YOU LOOK LIKE ANOTHER CLASSIC OTTER QB/WR DUO. DO YOU THINK YOU CAN REACH THE HEIGHTS OF YOUR PREDECESSORS?
We will see. Right now I have always been the WR2, always the Phelps and never the Westfield, so to speak. Also as we've already determined, Showbiz sucks, so he wont be able to get the same production as Boss.
WITH EXPANSION ON THE HORIZON DO YOU SEE YOURSELF AS A BIG ENOUGH ASSET THAT THE TEAM WILL PROTECT YOU TO MAKE SURE YOU DON'T GO ELSEWHERE?
I definitely think so. With Crush getting ready to retire, without me the Otters will have no one to throw to. Showbiz already tries to target opposing teams Cornerbacks as it is, he doesn't need help.
