(S15) PT 2 - Absolute Power

I’m pretty new to the NSFL so I won’t get into many specifics. I’m also only currently a member of a DSFL team, the Portland Pythons. In this hypothetical I’ll be discussing the strategy I would use were I to take over as GM of a team.

In real life I’ve always been a huge fan of run first offenses and hard nosed defenses, so my team would employ those same strategies. With how prevalent speed is in this league, I would likely run a 46 defense, but would try to use more safeties than linebackers if I could draft or handle free agency correctly. This would allow us to shut down the run easily and still be able to cover receivers with Tyrann Matheiu type players roaming center field.

I’d build the offense like the 2000’s Baltimore Ravens. I would prioritize speed for wide receivers the most, as they would be used primarily over the top. As for tight ends I would prioritize guys who good hands and run blocking. Tight ends are essential to any run first offense. Obviously at running back we would go power. And we would look for a high intelligence and high arm power quarterback.

I haven’t played the game that we sim in at all so whether or not these strategies would work is a mystery to me, but I would do what I could to stick to my guns.
