14) That Magic Moment
The Ultimas game may have been the biggest upset in the championship game's history. San Jose came into the game hoping to make this a defensive battle standing behind their stongest unit. However, Baltimore dominated from pillar to post and there wasn't one moment that captured the game. It was a similar story for the semifinals in which no team really had a big comeback or gigantic play. So for this task I'm going to talk about the most unique play of the game. It was a play that signaled the beat down was in play. I'm talking about the second quarter safety of quarterback Joliet Christ by Defensive End Steven Oats. A Safety is not something you usually see in a championship game, and it showed that when things start rolling, the train is hard to stop. The defensive score made it 19 to 0 and was a big blow for the Sabercats offense especially since it happened right before halftime. Oats had a great game, notching 5 tackles, 3 of which were TFLs and one sack, plus the safety. Oats is a season 10 player who has yet to hit regression, and is making his mark as a pass rusher on a strong defensive team. It was a play that truly represented a snap shot of the entire game.

The Yellowknife Wraiths were not expected to make a run at this season's playoffs. The Wraiths have a super young team full of max earners who haven't quite reached TPE levels that are consistant with championship teams, but are on the cusp. Starting QB Cooter Bigsby wasn't supposed to be good either. Most Rookies get dominated by the sim. However, despite all these things going against them, solid strategy and depth led the Wraiths to be on the cusp of the playoffs late in the season. All they had to do was beat Philly in week 14, and have Philly lose to dominant division rival Baltimore. Yellowknife would go on to beat Philly in week 14 but their dreams were already crushed by the previous week when Baltimore unexpectedly lost to Philly. The odds were greatly in the Hawks favor going into the game with a stacked roster. Unfortunately, their star QB Childish Gambino had one of his worst games of the season, throwing 3 picks in the loss. The game was tied in the third, but Philly went on to score 13 unanswered. One has to wonder if the Hawks players, seeing that they may have to face the Wraiths in the playoffs, got a little nervous and threw the game.
