1. Playoff Reviews
The Ultimini was battle between the Palm Beach Solar Bears and the reigning champions the Portland Pythons. Going into the game the Solar Bears were the clear favorites, especially with home field advantage and coming off an upset win over the regular season champs the Tijuana Luchadores. The first half was mostly all Palm Beach and the running back duo of Ludicolo Bigby and Mako Mendonca each scoring a touchdown putting the Solar Bears up 20-7 at halftime. Early into the fourth quarter Sam Torrenson would attempt to spark some life into the Pythons with a 98 yard rushing touchdown. However the dual headed monster would strike back with Mendonca and Bigby getting another touchdown each with eating up as much time as possible giving Palm Beach their second Ultimini Championship with a 37 to 17 win.
For the Ultimus we had the Baltimore Hawks and the defending champs, San Jose SaberCats. We were expecting a battle of the best offense this year versus the best defense this year to be one of the ages. It definitely was a Ultimus to remember as the Hawks blasted the SaberCats on both sides of the ball winning the championship game 49 to 0. The defending champs for both NSFL and DSFL championship games shared the same fate of failing to become back to back champs.
5. Spotlight on the Youth
This year’s Ultimus did not feature too many younger players as San Jose and Baltimore have many seasoned veterans on each team. I will give a brief summary on the few that did play though. Fatih Terim, a true rookie of the Baltimore Hawks was the team leader in sacks this game with 7 tackles and forcing a fumble. Fellow S15 draftee of the Hawks, Safety Walt Green was the one to recover the forced fumble. He also had 3 tackles this game. The best young player for the Hawks would be Alex Frost, the kicker/punter from S13 draft class. Frost was an unsung hero when he had 3 punts inside the 20, one of them being a 56 yarder downed at the 1 yard line. The very next play would result in a safety. From a place kicking standpoint, Frost was 2 for 2 nailing a 28 and 46 yarders. It would not be NSFL without a missed extra point but frost still went 5 for 6 on those as well. San Jose’s young tight end duo did what they could as they combined for 30 percent of the SaberCats 131 passing yards. San Jose letting Canton walk and relying on the young Corwin Davenport to take the running back role may have been their downfall.
7. Next Year
I already know what you are thinking. The Yeti? How would they even have a shot at an Ultimus next year when they don’t even have enough active player to protect from expansion draft. Well sit right down so I can give you some facts. Yeti have a group of high earning season 15 rookies that just dominate. Mo Berry who is a candidate for defensive rookie of the year, supplemented with Tony Gabagool as your linebackers. Safeties Logan Lejune and rookie Quinten Sinclair and Cornerback Beau Montgomery make up a decent secondary. If they can add to the secondary and get some defensive line help the Yeti defense will be a contender. Now for the Yeti offense they will be looking at trying to draft Wolfie McDummy from Portland. The wide receiver turned quarterback will be an improvement because McPicksix will finally be off the field. Terry Taffy really broke out once given the starting back role. Finally, James Bishop was the best wide receiver in the National Sim Football League in season 15. If Colorado can pair Bishop up with another offensive weapon for McDummy to throw to look for the Yeti to slide into the playoffs and hopefully make a run to their first ever Ultimus Championship.

Exclusive interview with QB Joliet L. Christ moments after the heartbreaking loss in the Season 15 Ultimus Championship.
Coming off the championship win how confident were you and the rest of San Jose going into this year’s Ultimus?
@`AndrewWarren13` I was pretty confident given we had the championship experience all over our roster. We knew the road game in Baltimore was going to be a huge challenge so less confident than last year, but we had the talent to win 100%
Joliet L. Christ you are going into your 7th season next year. Do you feel like you have a lot left in the tank?
@`AndrewWarren13` I think so, I have had some good years in the NSFL and that time is winding down but I have some of my best years left still!
If you could something differently to change the outcome of the game what would you do?
@`AndrewWarren13` What's done is done. We had nothing going on either side. I have no words unfortunately.
Where does the SaberCats go from here?
@`AndrewWarren13` Expansion will see us lose Oles and Poopsie. 2 players I have really enjoyed in our locker room and that's tough. But we have most of our core back along with wide receiver Espeeyeeceetee coming up from Norfolk, the future and present is very bright here!
