1) Playoff Predictions, Reviews:
I will be doing a playoff prediction for the DSFL playoffs. This DSFL season has been really crazy, which makes predictions extremely fun to make, but it also makes them much more difficult. I won't really be doing very detailed explanations, but I will try to at least explain each of my choices. First, Tijuana Luchadores vs. Palm Beach Solar Bears: I have to take the Luchadores in the matchup. Currently, they are the best team in the league. They have several end-of-season award candidates on their roster, so it honestly just wouldn't really make sense to pick against them at home. I do think that the Solar Bears have a chance to pull off the upset, but I just don't see it happening, since they are 0-4 against the Luchadores this season. Next, Portland Pythons vs. Kansas City Coyotes: This game is really hard to pick. If the Coyotes defense is at their best, they could beat any team in the DSFL. This is a scary good defense, especially when it comes to turnovers. The problem with the Coyotes is that their offense just can't seem to keep up with their defense. They have a -47 point differential as a team, which is not a good sign going into the playoffs on the road. This is why I'm choosing the Pythons to win this game. Finally, Portland Pythons vs. Tijuana Luchadores: Both of these are great teams; both of them can easily come out on top. Although, if I had to choose one to win, it would be the Luchadores. This will be a home game for the Luchadores. Although the Pythons almost beat them at home in the regular season, I think the Pythons will come up short again, unless their offense can be more efficient with the ball. Much crazier things have happened though.
6) Our Time
Written: Why should your team be looked at the favorite to win the Ultimus or Ultimini.
I just made my playoff predictions above this, and I actually didn't choose my team to win the Ultimini. That does not mean we don't have a chance. As I said, we can easily win if our offense is efficient with the ball. The last time we went up against Luchadores, we only put up 10 points. That's just not good enough to win big games like this. The Pythons have also proven in the past, specifically last season, how good they are when it comes to playoff football. They can make plays, and several of those players that made the plays last season are still on the roster. They are looking to repeat, and they will do whatever it takes to do just that. They are coming into the playoffs with returning MVP Franklin Armstrong at QB and DPOTY candidate Lanzer Grievous, who is currently have one of the best seasons a MLB has ever had in the DSFL. This is a very talented roster with playmakers on both sides of the ball. The loss of WR Wolfie McDummy will hurt them, but they have also had several weeks to prepare for this, so it's not like they were unprepared for him to leave. Overall, this team may not be as talented as last seasons' Pythons, but they have done just as much with less "talent" on the roster.
3) All about the QBs
Written: Write 200 words on one of the QB matchups in this year's playoffs. What are you most excited to see (Or excited to have seen), who will play better (Or who played better), etc.
The QB matchup I will be writing about is Franklin Armstrong vs. Rose Jenkins. This is a very interesting matchup. Rose Jenkins is a very strange DSFL player. Despite having so much experience and playing time in the DSFL, she has been insanely inefficient. She is currently at 7 touchdowns to 14 interceptions. Considering how long she has been in the league, compared to other DSFL QB's, it's just interesting to see how much she has struggled. She is actually at the bottom of pretty much every QB statistical category this season. When you look at Franklin Armstrong, you see essentially the opposite of Rose Jenkins. Franklin has made the most of his time in the DSFL. He set records his first season, winning MVP, OPOTY, and QBOTY. This season is statistically a down season for him, and he is still putting up above average numbers, 14 touchdowns to 9 interceptions. A quarterback does not completely make or break a team, especially in the DSFL. The Coyotes have made it to the playoffs, despite their QB's struggles, but it could definitely play a huge role in the outcome of this game. If Armstrong plays through the playoffs anywhere near his form from last season, teams should really not be looking forward to playing against the Pythons.
14) That Magic Moment
Written: Pick one moment from a playoff game and describe what made it so amazing to watch.
This one is somewhat tough to write about, and I feel like it's a little different from what most people would talk about here, but here goes nothing. The magic moment in the playoffs, for me, was actually losing against the Solar Bears in the Ultimini. This was not a good "Magic Moment" for me; it was actually terrible. But, it really helped open my perspective of the league as a whole. When I saw how bad we were losing the game, it really opened my eyes to how awful the sim that is used really is. This was the first time, since I created my player, that I actually contemplated retirement and just straight up giving up on the league. The truth of the whole situation is that it doesn't matter how much effort or time you put into your player in the DSFL, because in the end, it doesn't matter, and it will have little to no affect on the outcome of any game. This moment entirely changed my perspective of the league and my player. I now know that the focus is not winning, because there's nothing you can do when the sim decides that it's your turn to lose. This moment was amazing to watch, but that doesn't necessarily mean it was a good moment. My future in the league is now unclear because of this one "Magic Moment", and I will likely make a decision about retirement based on how the off-season plays out.
