4. Head to Head Matchup
One matchup coming into the Ultimus I was really excited to watch was between Baltimore Hawks star running back, Marquise Brown, and San Jose Sabercats star linebacker, Kolby Deringer. Both of them have grown into superstars after being drafted in the Season 9 draft and have faced off countless times over the years. In Season 15, they again helped lead their respective teams to the Ultimus game. They first met this season in week 5 in San Jose. Both of them had themselves solid games with Brown going for 86 yards on 22 carries and a score, while Deringer made 5 solo tackles and got to the QB once. The Hawks would win that by a score of 23-14. Again they met in week 12, this time in Baltimore, but this time Brown and the Hawks really got the better of the Cats. He ran for 130 yards and a touchdown while catching 2 more scores in a romp of the Sabercats, 44-12. Deringer had a decent game himself, leading his team in tackles with 8 and recording another sack, but it wasn't enough to hold off the star-studded Hawks offense. In the Ultimus Brown and the Hawks again got the better of Deringer and the Sabercats. He rushed for 116 yards, caught 64 more, and had a receiving touchdown. Deringer again put up a big game himself, with 9 tackles, 3 sacks, and 2 pass deflections, but the Hawks team was too dominant and well rounded for San Jose to counter.
