Ashley Owens attended the University of Wisconsin at Madison (the primary campus) on a substantial football scholarship. College was a unique experience for him, with his older sister being the only one in his direct family to also attend a 4 year university. On the scale of the world, he was quite close to his hometown of Sturgeon Bay, but to him it felt like a different galaxy. For his 3 years there (he declared for the DSFL draft instead of completing his senior year), he was a decent student. Though never near the smartest in the class, Owens always studied hard and maintained A’s and B’s, even with the time commitment of Badgers football. Ashley also discovered an interest in economics and finance, which will hopefully help him properly manage his career earnings when his no doubt lengthy career comes to a close. As for football, Owens had a difficult freshman year, but rebounded in sophomore year as a strong member of a rushing committee already full of seniors. Come junior year, Owens was Wisconsin’s star offensive player and played as many downs as any other back in college football. However, Wisconsin’s recruitment of a top RB prospect who they told would be the starting rusher, while Owens mostly started at receiver, caused Ashley Owens to announce his early departure from the Wisconsin Badgers.
