William Tell was born and raised in Switzerland. He played for the Bern Grizzlies in the Swiss national league and played nearly all positions for his hometown team. He raised the awareness of scouts from american college teams and finally got the chance to try to proof himself at a higher level. He got an invite from the California Golden Bears, and traveled half the world to his new home. He was very warm welcomed by his new teammates and felt at home soon. The training wa very hard though and he had to learn a lot to catch up. Also his athleticism needed to improve and he spent a lot of time in the gym. On field, it was clear he wanted to play defense and due to his long frame he got tested in the secondary. While he did need some time to get used to the very different skill level of his opponents, he got the trust from his coaches and his playing time increased rapidly. He soon became the leader of the secondary, partly because of an 75 yard pick six in the bowl game of his sophomore season. As his college career went on he started to focus mainly on the corner position to become more refined at the position and to prepare himself for the next step, while becoming one of the most memorable players to wear the blue and gold.
