I think the league seems to be a in a pretty good place, and I don't have any drastic improvements that I can think of. That said, I can think of one change that would at least mix things up a little bit. I think we should absolve the conferences. That might sound kind of crazy at first, but I'd like to see the seeding be completely based on record, and ignore which conference teams are in. This would solve some of the issues of a conference having way more talent than another, which might see a team make the playoffs that is not very good at all, or another team that deserves to be in, but misses the playoffs because they are playing in a much better conference. I know some of the rivalries would be lost due to this, but I'm not sure that's a huge deal. There don't seem to be a ton of rivalries that are completely related to the conferences. I think these teams would still have a shot of meeting in the playoffs, even if seeding is not based on conferences. Again, this might not be the best idea to implement, and the conferences are not way out of whack right now in terms of balance, but I think it's something to at least keep in mind if things ever get too lopsided.
