2. ROBBED
You want to talk about being robbed, huh? Well, look no further than the ASFC champion Orange County Otters getting ousted from the playoffs in an incredibly unceremonious fashion by the Arizona Outlaws. This game should have been titled, "Being Screwed by the Sim: Level 1000". I mean, I understand that upsets happen, any given Sunday, or whatever bullshit line you want to roll out there, but this was an exercise in being humiliated by the sim. We fumbled in the red zone twice, once in the endzone. I believe we were picked off two or three times, after Showbiz had his best season for touchdown to turnover ratio maybe ever. Our defense played like we were all wearing ankle weights, and I'll take my own lumps with that statement too. Don't get me wrong, Arizona had a fantastic football team this season, so it's not out of the realm of possibility that they might be able to beat us. What is ridiculous to me is that we got utterly spanked in such a demoralizing way. I mean, the locker room was more or less in shambles after the loss and it's not hard to see why. I'm alright with losing, but getting smoked was absolute nonsense.
3. NEXT YEAR
I don't like the fact that I've had to do one of these "Next Year" things for so many seasons in a row now. I'm always on the bandwagon here that we will win the Ultimus next season, and it's not really like we've ever been that far away. We're still the only team to make the playoffs in every season of their existence, and this season we were better than ever. That was due mostly to the fact that we had an absolutely incredible offense, anchored by the league's most talented receiving corp. You don't often get a group like Sunnycursed, Vinny Valentine, and Johnny Blaze, so losing this season hits super hard. We're still going to have a great team this season, but the odds of us being able to retain all that offensive talent is slim to none. They all deserve fat contracts and we obviously can't afford to hand out too many of those. That being said, we've got a lot of great, young players who are going to be coming into their own this season, and that has me super excited. This may one of my last really great chances to win another Ultimus in an Otters uniform, so I'm really hoping that it'll work out.
