For me, the best part of starting a new season, especially in a sim league, is getting over that offseason lull. Now, as a GM, a short break is always nice, but there's nothing like seeing your gameplan back in action. During the offseason, people always wanna try to grade teams based on what moves they have or haven't made, whether it be free agency, trades, draft, whatever, but when the regular season finally kicks off, none of that matters. All that speculation goes out the window & it's time to put up or shut up.
As for my team in San Jose, we're coming off an underwhelming season in which we finished 7-6 & lost in the Wild Card round to eventual champion Outlaws. After back-to-back Ultimus appearances in seasons 14 & 15, such an early exit led to an abnormally long offseason & that doesn't sit well with our squad. We may not have made any flashy moves, but we're out to prove that our window's not closed yet as many people seem to think. We're chomping at the bit to get back onto the gridiron & reclaim our rightful place at the top of the league's pecking order.
