Summer may not be over yet, but for many fans, the smell of the crisp autumn air, with visions of multicolored leaves dancing in the air, birth grins into ear to ear smiles. Oh yes, football season is here, whether your team is coming back to defend their title or this year is definitely your year. Be it the perfect season or your team most certainly winning at least one game, everyone can agree on one thing. It’s a great feeling knowing that football is back. To some, football is a game, to others, a religion. Making sure your jerseys are washed, damn well knowing, that they will not be seeing a washing machine until after the big game, lest you curse your team, superstition runs wild. Break out the crock pots and velveeta, hide the scales. The dad bod rejoices as the bathing suits get packed up and the hoodies are dusted off. We all love football and fanaticism that comes from it.
So for all of you out there preparing for the season, let’s get ready with one of my favorite game day snacks. The easy classic crock pot meaty velveeta dip.
1 pound of ground beef (or ground turkey if that’s your bag)
1 ½ pounds of velveeta cheese
1 (10 ounce) can of tomatoes with green chilis (I use rotel. Salsa also works in a pinch)
¼ cup of chopped onion
Step 1.
Melt velveeta and tomato/ salsa in crock pot on High
Step 2.
Brown beef/ turkey in skillet over medium heat with onion (for a little extra flavor, you can always Sautee the onions before browning your meat)
Step 3.
Drain grease from meat and add meat to the slow cooker for 30 minutes
Step 4.
Switch cooker to Low and break out those mother loving chips its dip time baby
Step 5.
Plop your bad self on the couch and crack open a cold one, it’s time for some FOOTBALL!
