5) Armchair GM
Well, since I’m no longer the actual GM I’ll take a stab at this. Firstly, I must point out that its hard to improve from Champion. But the Copperheads still have things they could do to secure the future even more. The current draft picks for example can start filling the last remaining holes, assuming a free agent opportunity does not present itself. LB, D-Line, and Kicker will all be needs soon. With Alfredo Crisco and Sandip Bakshi hitting regression now and Grayson Kuusela really feeling the sting of his third season of loss, the team will need these roles ready sooner than later. Beyond that, John-Caleb Bradburton (a young IA DT) can be replaced with a better model if the right opportunity comes up. Being just S18 and 205 TPE at DT, he’s a very moveable piece for teams that have a shortage if the Copperheads find a player who could take over that spot at a higher level of activity and earning. Beyond that the best things the team can do is continue prepping for the coming regression filled seasons while also balancing how to best maximize the roster at its current peak, especially given that next season’s expectations will surely be higher than this season’s. The only other thing to really do is to make sure that we’re locking up all of our active players for nice long contracts that make them happy.
6) Expansion
I just want to stress once again that I have no desire to actually be in charge of an expansion team, despite the numerous people who don’t seem to quite believe me for some reason. However, if I was going to bring another team into this world the first thing I’d do is snoop to find out who the other potential GMs are and then go ask them what they’re doing so i don’t step on any toes. I want to pick a spot no one else is going to. Also, I’d try to expand to an area based on a few credentials. I don’t want it to be the home of a big famous NFL team if at all possible. I’m a bit more okay with a lesser NFL team’s home because for example Jacksonville doesn’t really have a legacy I’m encroaching on. Even then it wouldn't be my first choice in the state let alone the region. I want to consider areas not already saturated by NSFL team as well. I’m not as worried about stepping on DSFL teams. I want to hit cities in the south, midwest, and international areas that would be relatively realistic. There are a number of island nations who could support a team, several Canadian cities, and a few Mexican cities as well. I’d want to find a unique way of presenting it as well. New colors that aren’t overplayed. Branding that fit the area I chose.
16) Dynasty
Well, let’s start with the obvious. The Austin Copperheads are the S20 NSFL Ultimus Champions. This team has played five seasons and made the playoffs in the last three. We don’t need to start being the next dynasty. We’re already there. Without ever having a start to finish season where we had more home games. Even in S18, where we had seven home games in the regular season, we went on the road in the playoffs. The team that just won has less TPE than the team will in S21 and S22. Statistical analysis actually says we UNDERPERFORMED this past season given our defensive dominance and offensive prowess (most likely due to that lack of home games which made it more difficult to win). We have our best football yet to be played in front of us and a lot of opportunity to be in position to win consistently. Even as our core goes through their peak in the next 3 seasons and begins to age out our S18 and S20 draft classes will hit their peak, creating a continued chain of talent with a steady core. This team is solid, and is now established from a high point as not the next great dynasty but a dynasty that has already been birthed into existence.
