After a mediocre rookie season, Dallas Birddog’s tight end Zee Rechs is looking to make his mark this season in the DSFL. After the departure of last season’s TE1 to the NSFL, Rechs is feeling the pressure to perform this season as the team’s new TE1.
Rechs’ primary goal for this season is improvement, both for himself and for his team. While it shouldn’t be too hard for the Birddogs to improve on last season’s dismal 5-9 record, Rechs is taking nothing for granted. The future is much brighter since the team has loaded up on young talent during the offseason and last year’s players have a full season of experience under their belts.
Another goal Rechs has for the season is to be more active in the Birddogs locker room. After last season, a number of players were quoted as saying “Zee Rechs, who?” This year, Rechs hopes to get to know his fellow players better and help mentor some of the new members of this year's Birddogs. When the season is over “team player” is how Rechs hopes to be remembered, by both his teammates and the rest of the DSFL.
Finally, Rechs hopes to prepare himself this season for moving up to the DSFL next season. After being drafted by the Yellowknife Wraiths during the offseason, Rechs has committed himself to grinding out that TPE, by hitting both the weight room and the books.
