It's almost time for Omar Wright Jr to begin his pro football career- well, his developmental league career- but still a large milestone nonetheless. Omar Wright Jr. is the son of retired pro football running back Omar Wright, who was a member of the inaugural NSFL draft where he ended up on the Orange County Otters. But you know what they say, ride like lightning, crash like thunder. Wright Sr. really only had a few seasons in the league that were noteworthy before knee injuries led to him washing out and fading to obscurity, his failure to hang around the league for any significant amount of time. Wright Jr. however, intends to make a lasting name for himself.
Wright Jr. is entering the DSFL as a linebacker selected 29th in the DSFL draft, selected by the Portland Pythons. In his first season of developmental football OWJ intends to do just that, develop! While OWJ is already blazing fast (a trait he gets from his father) he needs to hit the weight room to work on his strength and endurance conditioning before he can make a big impact on the world of pro football. As the season goes on OWJ isn't disillusioned into thinking hes going to smash records right out of the gate, no, he is going to be patient; biding his time before he strikes with full force and injects venom into his rivals- like a python (I have just learned that pythons are constricting snakes and do not have venom, whatever you get it)
OWJ isn't going to be concerned with his week to week stats just yet, he just wants to see slow and steady improvement over the course of the DSFL season. Much like a house, you have to start with a strong foundation (unless you're in Australia where its upside down and you start from the roof). By the time OWJ finishes his first season in the league he plans to be as strong as he is fast with the endurance to match.
Despite all this OWJ thinks it'd be nice to be a top LB in the DSFL, but that's a secondary goal. He believes that if he puts in the work the success will come with time.
