This year will be Spike Suzuki’s rookie year in NSFL after being drafted by the Philadelphia Liberty along with some of his prior Norfolk teammates. Upon being drafted, Suzuki was approached to try out defensive end since it was an overall better fit with the team set at linebacker, his original position. Suzuki is used to changing positions as he tried out most positions in college out of need so going from linebacker to defensive end is nothing new.
Over the off season, Suzuki added some bulk and maxed out their speed after with a rigorous strength training regime up in the mountains which should also ease this transition.
Overall, Suzuki hopes to build on his DSFL performance and have a productive rookie year and trust the process with this young Philadelphia team. Awards and accolades come with time and Suzuki is just getting started. For now, he plans on grinding every day, earning that TPE while hoping to make a name for himself.
Philly didn’t make the playoffs last season, but with this new young core we believe we can really make a run at it this year and hopefully make the playoffs. We feel we could become the next NSFL dynasty.
