Written Option: Every year is a brand new start. In 200 words or more, describe what your player hopes to accomplish this year. Are there any career bests you want to set, or maybe even a league record? Do you have your eyes on an award? Are you convinced that this is the year you’ll finally win a playoff game? Right now, anything is possible.
Season 22 us under way in the NSFL. Its Chester Sweets' rookie season Possibilities are endless and changes have been happening rapidly already. He dropped his old #32 (an unofficially retired number around the league) and put on #2, the number he wore back in high school. After some discussion amongst the team, Sweets also switched to a new position: strong safety. While many players might scoff at a position change, he sees the opportunity to prove himself while helping the team. "I've never played here, but I already have a physical style. The transition hasn't been too bad. I'm going to make mistakes, but I'm going to make plays, too. And the 'Cats are gonna surprise some people." The Sabercats defensive backfield suffered from a lack of talent at the position last year, even with standout HeHateMe PickSix. Sweets, along with fellow defensive back Cadillac Harris, aims to improve the revamped squad: "This is a positional group that can have a huge impact this year. We've got out heads down, doing the work. PickSix is great to have, he's tough to keep up with. But we've been playing for a long time, too. We're all teaching each other, making each other better. 'Iron sharpens iron', like my high school coach used to say." So what's Sweets goal this year? "To make an impact. Sacks, tackles for loss, INTs, tackles. All of it. I know what a safety can do this year. Look at Buck Thornton, Matt Cross, Johnny Hellzapoppin. They killed the DSFL last year. I can do that. I'm GONNA do that."
